Modern processing flows must be geared towards attribute analyses. Interpreters are being asked to provide answers which require a better understanding of the information in the prestack data. While a lot of information can be extracted from the prestack data, it is usually not requested by the interpreters. It becomes the processor's responsibility to work closely with the interpreters and convey the learnings to the interpreters. Integration of geoscience data from the field to the interpretation is desirable for a higher degree of success.
Modern flows tend to minimize the use of statistical parameters and promote the use of deterministic parameters. Relative amplitude processing is slowly being replaced by controlled character processing. Surface consistency for deconvolution, statics and scaling is highly desirable if statistical estimates are used. Earth model driven processing is improving the quality of stratigraphic processing.
In the end, a match between the seismic and the synthetic seismograms is used as a measure of the quality of the controlled character processing. If you are interpreting stratigraphic plays, Dyal Geo would like to work with you to investigate and solve the processing problems for you.
